NYCAYSA is a Dual Member Chapter of the American Corrections Association which was founded in 1870. The American Correctional Association (ACA) is a professional membership association dedicated to the improvement of Corrections and to the training and development of Corrections professionals. With more than 20,000 members, ACA's membership consists of individuals and organizations involved in all facets of Corrections - including Adult and Juvenile Justice , Institutions of Higher Learning, Probation and Parole Services in the United States, Canada, and other nations, as well as seventy-four chapters and affiliates representing states and professional organizations.

VISION:

     We are open to ALL those who work in Corrections and Youth Services or related field and who either work or live in NYS. We consider all who deal with social integration - from those in delinquency prevention programs in the community to those in maximum security and special housing units - as professionals in our field. All staff and volunteers are professionals united for public safety and a better society.

MISSION:

     The mission of New York State Corrections and Youth Services is to build bridges among agencies, associations and individuals working with offenders, victims, clients and their families. We promote professional development, we encourage innovative practices and we provide professional training to ensure our members and affiliates opportunities to provide a meaningful contribution to a better New York.
